Concert to Benefit Helena
Woman
Sunday, September 14, 2003
Downtown Helena, 2-10 p.m.
To Help Toni McMaster
The
Lost & Foundation will hold a fund-raising concert on
Sunday, September 14, in Downtown Helena from 2 to 10 p.m.
Proceeds of the concert will go to help Toni McMaster, a Helena
woman.
Toni suffers from a rare type of cancerous brain tumor. When
Toni underwent surgery in 1998, the tumor was misdiagnosed
as benign. Last January, further surgery and tests revealed
that the tumor was malignant. Toni went through a six-week
regimen of radiation and chemotherapy. She is now undergoing
six week-long treatments of intensive chemotherapy.
The disease – and its treatment – have kept v
away from her job at the Department of Public Health and Human
Services. The rest of the household income is seasonal. While
Toni continues to receive insurance benefits, the family is
hard-pressed to cover extra medical expenses and ongoing living
expenses.
The Lost & Foundation benefit will raise money through
a silent auction, raffles, 50/50 drawings, and donations.
The Foundation suggests a donation of $2 at the gate.
Several area merchants have generously given prizes for drawings
and raffles. In addition, businesses hosting events will donate
a portion of the day’s proceeds to the cause. The festivities
will include a variety of children's activities.
The event will span Performance Square, Bullwhackers Saloon,
Flicker's Coffeehouse, and Club 77 Sports Bar. More than a
dozen musical acts will perform during the day, including
Vintage, In Cahoots, and Nine Miles Up.
Also on tap are The Stream, The 49th Street Blues Project,
and Double Take. Further acts include Trust Fund Hippies,
Flyer, Grama Phat, Fat Bachelors, Rick Wine, and others to
be announced.
The Lost & Foundation is a nonprofit corporation established
by Helena musicians. The Foundation organizes regular events
to benefit worthy causes. The group has sponsored several
previous concerts and raised over $110,000 for worthy causes.
The Lost & Foundation benefit for Toni McMaster starts
at 2 in the afternoon on the Helena Walking Mall at Performance
Square. For more information, call 442-5002.
