Concert Helped Helena Teen to the Tune of $51,000
On Sunday, March 25, at the Red Lion Colonial Inn and Martini's
Lounge, several hundred people gathered to hear several different
musical acts. The proceeds of the concert, silent auction, raffles,
and other activities went to help Riley Herrera and his family.
Riley is 14 and a student at CR Anderson Middle School in Helena.
Since the age of 10, he has had cardiomyopathy. In January, he was
airlifted to intensive care at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
During that stay, he and his family learned that he needs a heart
transplant.
Six days after this benefit event, Riley received his heart
transplant in Cincinnati. He’s doing well, yet he faces nine months
of rehabilitation. Most of that time will be in Cincinnati, where
his family has established a home away from home. The proceeds of
this benefit will help the family cover living and travel expenses.
Thanks to all who attended and contributed. We often don’t give the
musicians enough thanks … and they didn’t ask for any pay.
Let’s recognize Dan Hunthausen, the Wilbur Rehman Quartet, Nine
Miles Up, the Ersatz Brothers, and Twenty Years Later. In addition,
we need to applaud Ron Darlington, the Montana Guitar Ensemble, the
Edgewalkers, Terry O’Hare and Friends, and the Natarajah Dance
Ensemble. There are also these folks – Dan Nichols, Valley Sound,
Danny Corbett, and other fine volunteers.
